Causes of the Cold War

 
Russian historians said (the British Prime Minister) and (the American president, 1945-53) wanted to destroy Russia, which was just itself. At first, western writers said that was trying to build up a Soviet empire.

Later, however, some western historians said that Truman had not understood how much Russia had in the Second World War.

   

Nowadays, historians think BOTH sides were to blame – that there were hatreds on both sides, which were simply incompatibly different in every way:
